Water media artist
I have been making art for as long as I can remember. I majored in studio art in college at UC Davis where I studied under artist, Wayne Thiebaud. He has greatly influenced my art ever since. I transferred to Cal State Long Beach to specialize in illustration. There, I learned to love painting with watercolors, which became a lifelong passion. I worked as a graphic designer for ten years after college. I then moved to the Central Coast and chose to pursue my other passion, teaching, earning my elementary teaching credential at Cal Poly.
I am happiest when I can be creative. Teaching third grade for 27 years has been just that. As I near retirement, I’ve started to paint much more and have branched out into acrylic painting. I am attracted to color, shadows, and pattern. Nature is my muse. Flowers and plants always inspire me and I paint them frequently in still lifes and landscapes. Two of my favorite places for inspiration are San Luis Obispo and Kauai. I’m excited that my future includes creating art full time.
